San Juan
Stay:
We stayed at La Concha which is right on the beach with plenty of pool options. The resort is within walking distance to many restaurants along the water and a twenty minute ride to Old Town San Juan. The hotel also has a casino on its property and they host a big party on New Years Eve.
Drinks:
La Factoria - famous in Old Town for its cocktails, multiple bars throughout the place
El Batey - dive bar with a similar ambiance to La Factoria, within the Old Town
Eats:
Verde Mesa - focused on locally sourced ingredients, this recent addition restaurant to Old Town does not take any reservations so be sure to get in line before the doors open for dinner
Punto De Vista - traditional Puerto Rican dishes in the Old Town
Oceano - upscale restaurant with waterfront views
Pinky’s - casual sandwich shop close to the hotel
Explore:
Old Town San Juan - this historical district boasts bright colorful buildings and plenty of charm. We would spend our mornings lounging by the pool and head into town to explore every afternoon. Don’t forget to check out the San Juan Cathedral.
Castillo San Felipe del Morro - this fortress was built in the 16th century and is a San Juan National Historic Site. On the outskirts of the town and along the ocean, this fort makes for some pretty great photo opps.
